My journey to health and fitness |
Attitude is one of the things that has had to change most for me. I’ve had to give up my whining and excuses and start just getting over myself and doing it. I admit it, I was lazy and that’s how I gained the extra 70 pounds. I sat around all day and ate every time I was in front of the TV. I was picky with what I wanted to eat so my diet consisted of almost no meat, fruit or vegetables. I ate a lot of pasta, and I mean tons. I indulged myself in ice cream and chocolate very often and constantly relied on greasy fast food. On September 25 I was involved in a car accident that left me in severe pain. This was a wake up call. As I became even more sedentary my fibromyalgia kicked in and my joints even started to hurt from carrying the weight. As the end of 2011 came around I felt it was time for a change. Not just a change in eating of in exercising but a lifestyle makeover. January first hit and a few days went by before my switch flipped. All of the sudden all I wanted to eat was chicken and tons of veggies. I knocked the carbs out of my diet, brewed iced green tea daily to increase my water intake, and began walking and being more active. Then I started feeling proud of myself. I was proud everyday when I pushed myself harder or tried a new food. I’m about three weeks in and my lifestyle has begun its transformation. I no longer eat out unless it’s an absolute necessity and when I do I try to go as healthy as possible. I’m falling in love with being active playing ate the park, a game of horse in basketball, and getting competitive with my husband. I enjoy pushing myself harder than I thought was possible. I seem to have a new mindset these days. A new, more positive attitude.
Today’s Mantra: I use both my strengths and weaknesses to my advantage.
